Do I need to be fit to do personal training?
Definitely not. Your training will be tailored to your fitness level and exercise experience. Even if you are a total beginner, we will start with the basics and develop these as your fitness level increases.
Do you do taster sessions?
Yes. Before you sign up for any training we will have a consultation and taster session. This is a chance for us to discuss your training goals and exercise history and do a short session in the studio to introduce you to the training.
Where would our training take place?
Either in my private studio in Kingsknowe or outside. With Scotland’s unpredictable weather it is most likely to be a combination of the two!
Why don’t you offer single sessions?
I don’t offer single sessions as I don’t feel I can give you the support needed to reach your goals in a single 60minute session. If you are looking to try some of the training before signing up I will always include a taster session as part of your initial consultation.
I have a medical condition, does this mean I can’t do personal training?
Not necessarily. I have additional qualifications which allow me to work with people with medical conditions. As long as your GP is happy for you to take part in physical activity, I will work to develop a training programme that works for you.
Do I need to be an athlete to benefit from sports massage?
No. Although sports massage can be very beneficial for the aches and pains brought on by sport-specific training, it can also be very beneficial for normal aches and pains brought on by lifestyle.
Is sports massage painful?
Massage is definitely not suppose to be a painful experience. Some of the techniques may be a little uncomfortable but the therapy will be matched to your needs and your pressure tolerance.
I have a medical condition, does this mean I can’t have sports massages?
Not necessarily. There are certain medical conditions where sports massage is contraindicated. When you book your first sports massage let me know the details of your medical condition and we can decide if sports massage is appropriate. You will also complete a medical questionnaire at your first appointment, and the massage will only go ahead if I feel it is appropriate for you.
